Assmang Manganese

Beier Albany was contracted as Principal Contractor for the Design, Build and Turnkey of a New Reverse Gas Baghouse for Furnace 1 at Assmang Managanese (Cato Ridge Works). The project was divided into a number of discrete phases :

  • Modelling of the existing system and then designing of the new baghouse using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). This yielded critical design parameters such as duct sizes and shapes, as well as system losses and fan sizes.
  • Structural Design and Shop Drawing Issue
  • Fabric Design to suit plant specific conditions
  • Shop fabrication of the various parts
  • Site Installation and Commissioning of the baghouse.

The contract was successfully completed in 10 months with hot commissioning performed on 14 July 2006.

CFD MODELLING

Beier Albany has performed a number of designs and models of dust and air flow related to Baghouses and various other components related to emissions control.
